The tranquil yet highly visited Mossman Gorge is one of the undisputed gems of the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland. Freshwater streams carve through the world's oldest and most ecologically diverse ecosystem in the world like veins supplying much needed nutrients and water to the ancient forests. The crystal clear water is inviting for a swim on a hot summers day but can turn treacherous with a deluge of wet season rain.
I arrived to Mossman Gorge on one such morning, after a late season downpour the water levels were high and water coursing through the gorge with huge amounts of energy. I returned a number of days later to find the water levels had subsided and the forest emanating tranquil beauty.
