Walking along the pristine beach at Denham you will be amazed by the extraordinary view of a white salt mountain at Useless Loop some 250 kilometres away by road. The salt mine produces the purest grade of salt in the world, produced by Japan’s Mitsui Group.⠀
⠀
Why is it called Useless Loop? Frenchman Louis-Henri de Saulces de Freycinet, visited Australia in 1801 christened the place Havre Inutile — Useless Harbour — because he believed (wrongly) that a large sandbar was blocking access for ships.
